Training

Your Gateway to Training & New Job Opportunities

Our Richland County OneStop and Crawford County Jobs Plus centers are your gateway to new skills for success in today’s changing, high-tech economy.

If you’ve been laid off, you may lack the money necessary for extra training and education. But our centers hold the key to funding and other support to help dislocated workers like you gain valuable new skills for growing, in-demand occupations.

By attending an orientation, you’ll learn more about the assistance available to help you get needed training. Through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) we provide career services for a wide variety of individuals:

  • Unemployed and underemployed, including persons dislocated by layoffs and plant closings
  • Persons age 55 or more
  • Disabled individuals
  • Low income youth, ages 14-21
  • Veterans.

WIA also helps people who risk losing their jobs without additional training. In many cases available WIA funding covers all the training a person needs. In other cases our One-Stop staff can help you locate scholarships and additional funding for training and education.

Extra Help When Jobs Leave the Country

Funding also is available through the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program for workers who have lost their jobs due to increased imports and relocation of business operations outside the U.S.

TAA benefits and services available to eligible workers include job training, income support, job search and relocation allowances, a tax credit to help pay for health insurance, and a wage supplement to certain re-employed trade-affected workers age 50 and over.
